One of the most frequently used software applications for computer users has to be the word processor or spreadsheet, depending on what task you are trying to solve. You could pay anywhere from $50 (Star Office by Oracle) to several hundred for the market leading office suite, or you can pay…. NOTHING! Guess which one I prefer?

There is a first for everything, and today was the first time that I have seen two completely separate websites that are intrinsically linked. Tucows, for those oldsters like me that have been around the internet since the dark ages a decade ago, was the quintessential free software site. The original, the letters stood for ‘The Ultimate Collection Of Web Software”, most of which, of course, was free.
